Through the St. Pius X Religious Education program, ongoing faith formation is available to parish children from preschool (age 3) through eighth grade. Our parish provides education in the faith for those unable to benefit from the Catholic school system. The program is staffed by the Religious Education Director with volunteer catechists (teachers, co-teachers and aides) sought from the congregation. Catechists must be confirmed Catholics, high school graduates, at least 18 years of age, with no canonical impediments to the sacraments. Aides may be under 18 and currently in high school. All instruction is faithful to the Magisterium of the Church. Texts used are in conformity with the Catechism of the Catholic Church and approved for use in the Diocese of Beaumont.
The DRE should be advised of special educational needs for any students at the time of registration. The DRE will determine if we can meet these needs. Registration occurs in August and instruction begins on the first Sunday after Labor Day. Instruction is conducted from September to May, with classes meeting on Sunday mornings from 9:45-10:45 a.m. in the Community building. (Grades K-8 students should attend Mass at one of the weekend Masses). A fee is required for each child, which is due with registration.
